Good Teacher Gift Idea
Posted (kate) in Uncategorized on June-27-2012

If you have kids in summer school this year, they probably aren’t happy about it. Who wants to sit in school while all of their friends are playing outside in the beautiful sunshine? It’s probably not fun to be inside learning while everybody else gets to do fun, summer things.

That is probably exactly how teachers feel that teach summer school. They are used to having a break during the summer and when they teach summer school they are unable to have a break.

This is a great gift idea for teachers that are teaching summer school as a thank you at the end of summer classes. All you need is a mason jar, ribbon, alphabet magnets or pieces, and some flowers. Tie the ribbon around the lip of the mason jar and fill it with the letters. Then add the flowers (I would opt for artificial flowers since the flowers will die without water). It’s easy to do and they will appreciate the gesture. This will look great sitting on their desk the following school year!

More Mother’s Day Gift Ideas
Posted (kate) in Uncategorized on May-9-2012

Since Mother’s Day is fast approaching, I decided to post another Mother’s Day gift idea. This is a homemade, DIY (do it yourself) idea that is easy to do and will mean a lot. This is a gift for smaller kids to make for their mom. All you need is construction paper (or colored craft foam sheets if you would like it to be thicker and more sturdy), glue, and a permanent marker. You will also need a picture of the kids of who the flower craft will be for.

Help the kids trace their hands and cut them out in various colors. If there are 3 or 4 kids, you will need to use 3-4 hand cut outs for each kid. If there are 1-2 kids, you will need to use 5-10 hand cut outs. Cut out the picture in a circle shape to represent the middle of the flower. Glue the hand cut outs and a stem onto the flower and write a special message when you’re finished!

Great Gift Idea for Grandma
Posted (kate) in Uncategorized on April-9-2012

Mother’s Day is coming up next month. If you have a lot of people to get gifts for, I would start now. I found this great gift that I want to make for my grandma. She is such a great person, I would like her to know just how much she is appreciated.

I don’t know about your grandmothers, but my grandma loves getting gifts that are homemade. They mean so much to her.

This gift is super easy to make. All you need is pictures of each grandchild, printed out and cut into the shape of a circle. A cute vase or planter with some filler will hold craft sticks perfectly that act as flower stems. These craft sticks can be painted easily too if you’d like them to be green. Cut out different flower shapes using construction paper and paste the circle picture in the center of the construction paper flower shape.

Get creative and have fun with this! Let each grandkid create and cut out their own flower shape so it’s unique, just like them! This is a gift that can be kept forever and will never die, like real flowers do.

Teacher Appreciation
Posted (kate) in Flowers on March-30-2012

As the school year is ending, I’ve been trying to find a few great ideas for teacher appreciation gifts. When I was younger, I always gave my teacher a gift at the end of the school year to thank them and it was also a way of wishing them a good summer ahead.

I like this gift idea a lot for a teacher. Like the last teacher gift idea I posted, it has a cute and catchy phrase. This is also inexpensive and easy to do, so if you have a few children that each want to make one or a child with multiple teachers, it won’t be a financial burden.

All you need for this crafty gift is a plant pot, a flower plant, potting soil, some paint, and a popsicle stick with paper and markers. Before planting the flower in the pot, I would use paint to creatively decorate the pot. After it dries, the flower can be replanted into the pot and a message can be added to the paper. I like the quirky message in the picture, but there are many that could be used!

Get Well Soon!
Posted (kate) in Uncategorized on February-27-2012

I know that everybody has been sick in their life. Every once in a while, the germs of the world get the best of our immune system. It’s definitely not fun to lay on the couch or in bed, eating soup, and taking medicine. It’s great to know somebody is thinking of you at this not-so-fun time.

I found this cute idea to make for somebody that needs it. With a couple of pieces of colored paper, some craft “googly” eyes, and a few band aids, this super cute and thoughtful craft can be made and given to somebody who is on the mend. Homemade gifts are so thoughtful!

This can be given to someone who is sick, in the hospital, recovering from surgery, and so much more. Get creative with this! It’s inexpensive, but of course it’s the thought that counts. I’m sure whoever is on the receiving end of the gift will appreciate it!
