4th of July Fun

When you live in or near the big city of Minneapolis, Minnesota you tend to get thrown a lot of options when it comes to any event. This 4th of July is no exception. Many will be on their boats on Lake Minnetonka while others will be grilling in their backyards. But for those of you who don’t know what to do on the day our country was born here are a few options for the Twin Cities area.

  1. Stone Arch Bridge:
Fireworks Above the Stone Arch Bridge
This is one of the best spots to view the fireworks; they’re literally above your head! The bridge is above the Mississippi river so you can only imagine how magical the fireworks look in the waters reflection. Spots fill up quick because it is so popular so get there early!
  2. Gold Medal Park:
This spot can be pretty buggy so if you do go make sure to bring bug spray but don’t let the thought of getting bit stop you from going because the view is perfection! Lay back on the grass, play frisbee with your friends and enjoy!
  3. Lake Calhoun:
Go there during the day to swim, grill, kayak and enjoy the weather and stay for the night to watch the fireworks over the water! Nothing more romantic than a view of the lake to go with some explosions.
  4. July 4th in the park:
This is the only Independence Day parade in St. Paul. It is accompanied by a family friendly picnic and party located in Langford Park. The parade begins at 11:00 AM on Luther Place and continues down Como Park.
  5. Watermelon Ride:
The 31st annual Watermelon Ride is on July 4th. This is another family friendly event and you can choose to travel either 15, 25, or 5o miles. It begins in Battle Creek Regional Park with a picnic after the ride. It costs $25.00 to join.

Lots of options here!

Is Tinder Worth It?

Don’t act like you don’t know what Tinder is! It’s been everywhere lately, but for those of you who honestly don’t know much about it, it’s basically a “dating” site for single 20 somethings. I put dating in quotes because lets be honest it has a reputation as a hook up site. And that’s fine for people who just want a hook up, but what about the people who are looking for a little more?

If people really want to get down to business they tend to put that they are looking for a hook up in their profile. Thank you for making that left swipe so much easier! I have nothing against people that are just on their for a hook up but sometimes that honesty comes off as douchebagery. Maybe it is because I am not looking for a hook up, but I am also not exactly looking for a relationship.

I think a lot of people in their 20s are looking for casual dating and since we are the age of the Internet it’s easy for us to turn to apps like Tinder to do the work for us.

It looks a little something like this. You open the app and your options are displayed on the screen. You can scroll through about five pictures, if people uploaded that many, and read a bio, if people included one. Basically you decide if you are interested by looking at a picture. Swipe left for a “no” and right for a “yes” or use the X or heart feature.

You will encounter douches on Tinder. For example, this is a real message I received on the first day I had Tinder.

I cropped out the name and the picture, but this is a legit message I got.

You can un-match them or block them. Or mess with them, whatever you want!

At the end of the day I still think it is a good way to meet people your age once you weed out the douches.

Chill, Man

There is nothing like sitting outside in the hot, summer sun. All you need is some sunscreen, your sunglasses, and a nice, cool drink. But, what happens when that nice, cool drink starts to get warm? You know that gross, lukewarm, type of liquid I’m talking about. You could add ice to your drink but that would just dilute it, and whether you are drinking soda, lemonade, or some sort of alcoholic beverage you do not want to water down your drink. The only way ice cubes can save the day is if you are drinking water. While hydrating yourself is important in the summer, you do not want to always drink water. We all need flavor in our lives! So how do we keep our drinks and ourselves cool? Get the Chill Maintaining Pilsner Glasses.

Or the Chill Maintaining Wine Glasses,

and maybe even the Chill Maintaining Margarita Glasses.

These different glass sets are the perfect summer gift. It does not matter if it is for a birthday, wedding, or host gift. Everyone can appreciate keeping it cool 24/7.

These glasses keep your beverage between 32 degrees F and 36 degrees F for about 30 minutes. The glasses work because they are double walled and in between those double walls is a cooling liquid. You leave these glasses in the freezer for an hour.

And just because the intended use for these glasses is alcohol, that does not mean you have to use them for alcohol. The wine glasses especially could pass for regular glasses. It may be hard to pass the margarita glass off as a normal glass but who does not want to drink a slushy out of a margarita glass?

Each of these glasses comes in a set of four. The Pilsner glasses and Margarita glasses are both $79.95, while the Wine glasses are $59.95.

It’s April FOOLS

SO today is April first, otherwise known as April Fools Day. Today is the only day where you can be a jerk to your friends and they wont hate you (maybe, depending on what you do to them). This holiday may seem like it is only for kids who go and ring doorbells and run away, but even if you are in your 20s (or 30s, or 40s….) you can still prank your friends for a good laugh. Just do not take it too far. So here are some of my favorite, somewhat harmless April Fools prank ideas.

You could go the childish route today and put plastic over your toilet (as long as you clean up the mess of course). This would probably work best really early in the morning or really late at night when people are too tired to notice little details like, you know, the toilet being completely covered in plastic.

Speaking of plastic, I always found it funny in high school when people plastic wrapped their friends cars. This is where you take a bunch of plastic wrap and completely wrap the car so they cannot open the doors. Feel free to write insults on the plastic wrap for added fun!

If you are really viscous and want to cause real damage (which, I do not condone so how about you do not do it) you could put bologna slices all over your friends car. The bologna rips the paint off, which begs the question “What the hell is bologna made of if it can rip off paint?” Oscar Meyer has some explaining to do…

A more harmless way to ruin your friends car would be to cover it in post-it notes. Do not quote me but I do not think post-it notes destroy paint. Again, feel free to write insults!

What is Fit Tea?

I keep seeing this Fit Tea thing all over my Instagram. I am not a fan of weight loss gimmick’s. I think the only way to really get the body you want is to change your way of life. Going on a fad diet may help you lose weight for now but it will not help keep it off later. That being said I understand there are a few things you can do to help boost your metabolism, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Unless it is some weird pill manufactured in Germany and you cannot even read the warning labels. But this Fit Tea is a tea, so it must be natural, right?

I did a little research, first I Googled “What is Fit Tea?” and this is the answer I got “Fit Tea is a detoxifying tea blend of certified organic herbs which are formulated to enhance your weight management program as part of a healthy diet and exercise regimen. Organic Green Tea, Oolong Wu Yi, Organic Rooibos, Ginger, Pomegranate, Guarana, Birch, Stevia, Corn and Honey Powder”

Those are all words I know so it cannot be too bad. Fit Tea is supposed to detoxify your body, increase your metabolism, and your energy levels.

If these pictures are real then it looks like the tea really works.

They sell a few different pack options. You can do a 14 Day Tea Detox for $25.00, or a 28 Day Tea Detox for $45.00, which looks like just the tea. Or, you can buy the packs that come with the tea and some pills. I am really weary of pills but if you must, you can get the Super Pack, the Fat Burner, the Pro Pack, the Starter Pack, or the Pill Pack.

Whatever you choose, just remember, nothing can replace a healthy diet and regular exercise!
