Relax A Little

Life is super stressful. I know personally I have a million different things to do a day and each of them go in a different direction. If we break it down, I’ve got two blogs (which I love running), a job in a cosmetic department, a social media internship and on top of all that, a Spanish class. By the way I have never taken Spanish a day in my life so that has proven to be the most difficult. Needless to say I am always busy and when you are always busy you can get a little stressed. I feel like I never have time for anything. I know a lot of people feel this way too. So, how can we calm ourselves down and just relax for once so we don’t go completely crazy?

The first step is to set aside time for yourself. No matter how busy you are you need to set aside time for yourself, even if it is just for 10 minutes. Sometimes I go on a run to clear my head, but sometimes I am too lazy to do that.

This is where the Lavender Relaxation Gift Box comes in. It comes with scented shower gel, a moisturizing bath bar, body butter, body lotion and body mist, a loofah, Hemingway tea, English Tea Cookies and a Ghirardelli Chocolate bar.

This gift basket comes from for $69.99 and it will help ease all of your stress. This would be the perfect thing to get yourself if you feel like you need a treat or you could give it to someone who really needs to calm down for once. Either way this basket will be appreciated. Drink that tea and it those cookies, then polish off that chocolate bar. Go on, you deserve it! As they say, treat yo’ self.

Picking the Perfect Fragrance

Whether you are shopping for your mother, grandma, or even your dad fragrances are a popular option for everyone. Perfumes or colognes everyone wants to smell good. But did you know the same fragrance can smell different on different people? It has to do with the PH balance of your skin and since everyone is different, everyone’s PH is different. Other things can affect smell too such as temperature, diet, lotions and even having a hangover can change the smell of your perfume!

So how can you pick a perfume that smells good on you? Obviously visiting a counter and physically testing the perfume on your skin is the best option, but if you are busy and are looking for something online you can take this handy quiz from Total Beauty called What’s Your Fragrance Personality?

I took the quiz and I got floral scents as my fragrance personality, “The best scent for this romantic, sensitive and sweet personality would be a bouquet of complementary florals, sure to woo even the most fickle of noses. Look for familiar notes like magnolia, jasmine, rose and lily. For the more fresh-minded, keep it light with a hint of lavender or a fresh, herbal top note. For those with a hidden sultry side, pick up a fragrance with a bottom note of amber, wood, musk or vanilla.”

So, if you are like me and floral is your thing try Daisy by Marc Jacobs

Daisy has notes of violet leaves and wild strawberries. It is very fresh and light. A 3.4 oz bottle of this perfume costs $94.00

If that does not sound delicious to you try Poppy Flower by Coach.

It smells citrusy with a dash of peonies, jasmine and rose water.

My favorite scent has to be La Vie Est Belle (or life is beautiful) by Lancôme.

It smells of iris!

Father’s Day Count Down

Fathers day is coming fast! We only have one more week to find something for our dads. I know I blogged about this a little bit ago but most people probably haven’t bought their gifts yet and could use a refresher.

I decided to take a different spin on this. Think of it from a childs perspective. You could always buy something and say that it is from your kid but we all know the truth. Kids can’t exactly log onto the web and order something from themselves and if they can then that kid is dangerous and should be stopped.

So what are some ways kids can give their dads a great gift and it actually mean something?

First of all, if your kids are old enough to at least write you could print out this cute memo that lets the kids fill in the blanks and tell their pops why they love them so.

Even though this seems like more of a mothers day idea, what dad doesn’t want to know why his kids love him? Even if he pretends its lame, look for that glimmer of a tear in his eyes that I know will be there.

Here is another cute idea that lets the kids get a little more “Hands-on” (lol)

Just cover your kids hands in green paint and gently press it on a piece of paper that you have already printed the words “Happy Fathers Day 2015″ (or whatever you want it to say) on. This example creates a tree but you could always do something else too. It puts a nice spin on the old hand to turkey craft from Thanksgiving.

Whatever you choose to do, make sure you celebrate dad! You would not be here without him. Whether you do an at home BBQ with the family or a big sha-bang with the neighborhood just do something!

Everything for the Traveler in Your Life

Do you know someone who is always on the go? Whether it is for work or play everyone seems to have someone in their life that spends most of their time at airports! I’m packing for my first business trip and I am realizing I don’t have any products for traveling. Of course I have a suitcase and of course I have been on a plane before, but packing for a spring break trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico is a lot different than packing for a business trip to Dallas, Texas.

I would say the main difference is because it is a business trip, you will want to pack light. This means carry-on only, and for someone who has a lot of clothes and no apologies for it this is hard. How do I fit ALL of my hair and face products in one bag ALONG with my clothes? This is how.

  1. Gather a few outfit ideas together. Try them all on and pick the best one. With me I always think “well what if I don’t want to wear this when I get there?” Well tough. It is a business trip not a fashion contest. While its perfectly acceptable, and encouraged, to look good planning ALL your outfits in advance will ensure that you will at least look put together even if you changed your mind.
  2. Mini EVERYTHING. Get mini sizes of all of your favorite products whether it means going to the salon and getting sample sizes or going to Target and getting mini travel sized gear. You don’t need full sized products for 4 days. Try signing up for BirchBox. They send you samples every month!

Here is an example of a Value Kit from BirchBox. Kérastase Cristalliste Set for Thick Hair.
  3. Utilize your carry-ons. You may only be allowed one carry-on but you are also allowed to bring a small purse (or handbag) shove anything you can in there. Shoes, underwear, an outfit. Use this space!

Bridesmaids/ Groomsman Gift Ideas!

Wedding season is upon us and while many people worry about what to get the bride and the groom on their special day, the bride and the groom worry about what to get the special people in their lives. I’m talking about bridesmaids and groomsman. Typically, bridesmaids and groomsman are either relatives or close friends of those to be wed. This means you have to get them something nice! After all being in a wedding is a lot more stressful than showing up the day of.

You could go with the traditional necklaces, cufflinks, what have you. OR you could get something a little more unique!

For the bridesmaids, try getting cute, silk, monogramed robes! The girls can wear them the day of while getting ready and they can use them for more than just one day! These satin robes from Etsy cost $35.00 a piece and come in seven different colors.

Another idea that’s less noticeable is to get your bridesmaids jewelry in your wedding colors. So if your colors are coral and navy get them some coral and navy earrings like these ones from Etsy.

This way your ladies can wear them whenever they want but they will still hold a special meaning for them.

I don’t want to generalize the whole category of “men” but they seem to be less picky to shop for than girls. I’m sure some are but the common theme seems to be buy them something beer related and they will be happy. So, going along with this you could get your groomsman some monogramed beer mugs!

The one above is only $10.00

They will use it whenever and probably for more than just beer. But if you are looking for something special try also getting them some monogramed robes! Try avoiding the short, silky ones from above. Unless they’re into that of course!
