Makeup Organization

If you love makeup as much as I do then chances are you have a lot of it. Whether its multiple shades of lipstick, eyeliner, or eye shadow you are probably swimming in it. So how do the pros keep it organized?

I have used a caboodle for a while. You probably had one in the 90s. And it probably looked like this

You can still buy them, but they look a lot more like this now

I always called it my tackle box.

These caboodles are a great way to store your makeup, but sometimes it is hard to find. No matter how many times I clean out my caboodle and organize it, I am always digging around!

This is why the pros use a  clear makeup storage drawers

This is probably the best way to store your makeup. You can dedicate each drawer to a specific item, and you can easily find that item because the drawers are clear! These drawers come in many different sizes. The one pictured has five drawers but you can also get them from three drawers to 10. They are pretty cheap as well, and you can find them anywhere. Check Target, Walmart, Marshall’s, Ikea. Literally anywhere that sells storage units.

Now, this is a great way to store your actual makeup, but what about your brushes? Storing them in drawers can flatten the bristles. This is why you should store your brushes in jars.

A lot of places make storage units specifically for brushes, but I think it is more fun to make them!

I used a vase from the dollar store and filled it with beads.

You can use coffee cups, jars, vases, whatever you can find in your home really! You can even use rice as a filler instead of buying beads like I did.

With all these great storage ideas its time to clean out your old makeup and buy new stuff!

Sweet Summer Treats

Water is number one when it comes to summer drinks. You have to stay hydrated if you want to have fun! Ending up in the hospital with an IV in your arm is not the way to spend a warm summer day. But we cannot always drink water! Sometimes we want a cool, tasty drink. Many people look to soda to quench this thirst. I love soda, but too much of it always hurts my stomach, and it is just really not good for you. So to curb this soda craving try these sweet alternatives.

Strawberry Basil Lemonade:

    • 4 strawberries, hulled
    • 4 Tbsp. honey or agave
    • ½ – 1 cup ice cubes
  2. How To Do It:
    1. Add all ingredients into blender (I use my Vitamix) and blend until combined and frothy smooth.
    2. Pour into cups and garnish with lemon slices and a sprig of basil.

    • Lime wedges
    • Mint sprigs, for garnish (optional)
  2. How To Do It:
    1. Bring 4 cups of water to a boil.
    2. Place the hibiscus flowers and sugar in a heat-safe bowl or other container and pour in the water.
    3. Let steep for 10 minutes.
    4. Strain into a pitcher and add the remaining three cups of water.
    5. Stir and taste, adding more sugar or water if desired.

    2. You can also squeeze in the juice of one mandarin orange and muddle the blueberries to intensify flavor a bit.
    3. Serve cold.

Chill, Man

There is nothing like sitting outside in the hot, summer sun. All you need is some sunscreen, your sunglasses, and a nice, cool drink. But, what happens when that nice, cool drink starts to get warm? You know that gross, lukewarm, type of liquid I’m talking about. You could add ice to your drink but that would just dilute it, and whether you are drinking soda, lemonade, or some sort of alcoholic beverage you do not want to water down your drink. The only way ice cubes can save the day is if you are drinking water. While hydrating yourself is important in the summer, you do not want to always drink water. We all need flavor in our lives! So how do we keep our drinks and ourselves cool? Get the Chill Maintaining Pilsner Glasses.

Or the Chill Maintaining Wine Glasses,

and maybe even the Chill Maintaining Margarita Glasses.

These different glass sets are the perfect summer gift. It does not matter if it is for a birthday, wedding, or host gift. Everyone can appreciate keeping it cool 24/7.

These glasses keep your beverage between 32 degrees F and 36 degrees F for about 30 minutes. The glasses work because they are double walled and in between those double walls is a cooling liquid. You leave these glasses in the freezer for an hour.

And just because the intended use for these glasses is alcohol, that does not mean you have to use them for alcohol. The wine glasses especially could pass for regular glasses. It may be hard to pass the margarita glass off as a normal glass but who does not want to drink a slushy out of a margarita glass?

Each of these glasses comes in a set of four. The Pilsner glasses and Margarita glasses are both $79.95, while the Wine glasses are $59.95.

Mother’s Day is Code for Brunch

No matter what you are doing on May 10th, it will probably involve your mom and some brunch. Brunch is synonymous with Mother’s Day. I do not have any hard statistics but I am going to guess that 90% of Mother’s Day celebrators will be participating in the brunch epidemic. Mimosas for everyone! Since Mother’s Day Brunch is a very real thing, most places will be packed. Unless you are ~fancy~ enough to make a reservation you will have to go with the luck of the draw and wait for a table at most places. Waiting is annoying and noisy. You could try to get there early or at an awkward time when there is a lull but why plan your day around such a stressful notion? Brunch rules but it does not rule everything. This Mother’s Day, try having a homemade brunch! It is like taking breakfast in bed to a new level.

Go the whole nine yards. Set the table, use the good china, make mom feel special! Here is my ideal brunch at home scenario.

The weather is warm, the deck is filled with flowers, and the umbrella on the table is up blocking the hot sun rays à la this Santa Maria Outdoor 7 Piece Dining Set from

It’s $1,375.99, which is pricy but remember this is just an ideal scenario.

I would set the table with lilacs, which is my moms favorite flower. They are beautiful and have a great smell!www.PaintingsGallery.pro_Valevskaya_Valentina_Lilac_Bouquet_large_226252

For the main dish I would look to Martha Stewart, the ultimate homemaker (and bad bitch). Her site, Martha Stewart , provides a mouth watering recipe for Ham and Egg Crepe Square

Just look at it, I am restraining myself from licking my screen!

And finally, what is brunch without a few mimosas? They are easy to make, just add a little champagne to your morning orange juice et voila!

Happy day!
