Is Tinder Worth It?

Don’t act like you don’t know what Tinder is! It’s been everywhere lately, but for those of you who honestly don’t know much about it, it’s basically a “dating” site for single 20 somethings. I put dating in quotes because lets be honest it has a reputation as a hook up site. And that’s fine for people who just want a hook up, but what about the people who are looking for a little more?

If people really want to get down to business they tend to put that they are looking for a hook up in their profile. Thank you for making that left swipe so much easier! I have nothing against people that are just on their for a hook up but sometimes that honesty comes off as douchebagery. Maybe it is because I am not looking for a hook up, but I am also not exactly looking for a relationship.

I think a lot of people in their 20s are looking for casual dating and since we are the age of the Internet it’s easy for us to turn to apps like Tinder to do the work for us.

It looks a little something like this. You open the app and your options are displayed on the screen. You can scroll through about five pictures, if people uploaded that many, and read a bio, if people included one. Basically you decide if you are interested by looking at a picture. Swipe left for a “no” and right for a “yes” or use the X or heart feature.

You will encounter douches on Tinder. For example, this is a real message I received on the first day I had Tinder.

I cropped out the name and the picture, but this is a legit message I got.

You can un-match them or block them. Or mess with them, whatever you want!

At the end of the day I still think it is a good way to meet people your age once you weed out the douches.

How to Dress Up Your Office

Working in a cubicle can be really boring. I know because I did it for an entire summer for 40 hours a week and it was the worst experience of my life. I hope I never have to do it again, but that may not be the case. We all have to do things we do not want to do, and working in an office is just one of those things. But, it does not have to be depressing. There are a lot of ways to dress up your cubicle to make the pain of working inside all day a little easier, but it is hard to look at fun pictures when you have to stare at your screen all day. However, you can take it one step further by dressing up your computer! Your USB port is good for more than just a flash drive. Here are a couple of cute computer accessories that are guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

  1. The USB Beverage Cooler: Plug this little ditty into your computer for a chilled soda. It may only fit one can but one can is all you can drink at a time any way. For $29.99 it is pretty nifty.

  2. USB Missile Launcher: Is your cubicle partner obnoxious? Is your co-worker across the room talking really loud on the phone? Did your boss forget your name again? If the answer to any of these questions, or anything like them is yes (or even no) buy this missile launcher! It shoots as far as 10 feet and has cool sound effects. Sweet revenge is only seconds away.
  3. USB Desk Vacuum: Do you like to eat at your desk? I do. I eat toast in the morning, and toast can get pretty crumby (ha). Before you ruin your desk for good, get this USB desk vacuum!

What the Heck is This?

Virtual reality seems to be the latest thing in the tech market. We all want to experience new worlds! Maybe you want to step inside your favorite game world, or maybe you just really want to see Greece (but cannot afford it.) Well, for $49.00 that might change.

There is this new device in the making called AirVR. It turns your world virtual by using your iPhone or iPad. This is a really cool concept for a couple of reasons. First off, for the longest time virtual reality has just been a cool idea but recent advancements in technology take this concept from an idea to a reality (HA!)

Second, because it is such a new concept and it has to do with technology, we would expect it to be incredibly expensive. But, AirVR is only $49.00. Of course it is still in development so you cannot have it right away, but gosh $49.00 for a personal, portable virtual reality experience? That is pretty cool!

Lastly, it is cool because you use it with your iPhone or iPad. Something we already use every day can take us into new worlds we never thought possible!

The downside is that you will look really stupid using it.

Why is this guy outside? Can he even see? Is he supposed to be walking around while doing this? These are questions I need answered! And we thought looking down at our phones all the time made us look stupid. With AirVR you will literally be glued to your screen! (without the glue though).

I always thought virtual reality was something you would experience in a giant cinema like room. But that is the power of technology, it can take you anywhere! Hopefully the places it takes you will not be into a post. Because you cannot see. Lets hope the inventors from CAD thought this through!

Real Life Chalk Zone

Do you remember the show ChalkZone from Nickelodeon? The premise of the show was the main character Rudy had magic chalk that allowed him to enter the world of ChalkZone. In ChalkZone, everything he drew came to life. I always wished I had magic chalk!

Well now, I can be halfway there. Check out the 3Doodler: The 3D Printing Pen. You have probably heard of 3D printers by now, they are expected to be the newest hot item. Now, they come in pen form.

Yes! A pen that draws in 3D! No more silly two dimensional doodles, the 3Doodler brings your creations to life (well, physically I mean.) So, how does it work? The 3Doodler website answers this question like so, “As 3Doodler draws, it extrudes heated plastic, which quickly cools and solidifies into a strong stable structure. This allows you to build an infinite variety of shapes and items with ease!”

You can draw on a piece of paper and peel your creation off or you can draw in free form like in the picture below!

If you do not have any immediate ideas for what to draw, no worries. You can get yourself some stencils! You can also buy some cool accessories for your 3Doodler. A Doodle Stand to keep your pen safe when you are not using it, a Pedal to work your doodle magic and not get tired, and a Nozzle Set to doodle in different forms (just like the nozzles for icing)!

You may think an innovative, techy pen like this would cost you $3,000,000.000 bucks but no! It only costs $99.00. Now where can you get your hands on the 3Doodler? From their online store of course! They ship all over the world. You can also checkout Best Buy online or Staples online.

Now get to doodling!

Smartphone Projector

Have you ever wanted to show a group of people a picture on your phone only to have it fail because not everyone could see? Then you have to show them one by one or have them pass your phone around (and risk them peeking at your pictures). Or, have you ever wanted to watch a bunch of videos on your phone but you could not fully enjoy it because the screen was so small?

Well now you do not have to worry about that ever again! As long as you buy the Smartphone Projector that is!

This thing may only be made out of cardboard but it is powerful! It has a natural sound amplification and the glass lens magnifies your phone for you. That is right, no plugging in needed! But, it does have an open area in the back for you to plug your phone in so you never have to stop showing off your videos and photos! It does all of this for $27.00 too! The only stipulation is that you have to put it together, but it is small and simple so that will not cause any problems!

This would be a great gift for a new college student! I cannot think of a better way to make friends in a new dorm room than being able to project YouTube videos on the wall! Everyone will want to come to your room. This would be a great gift for anyone who is obsessed with their smartphone. Constantly showing your friends the latest Vine? Get the Smartphone Projector! There is one downside, it does not work with iPhone 6’s (but the screen is so huge you would not need to project it anyway!) But, it does work with every other kind of smartphone, so, project away! Get it at
